During the severe health and economic disruptions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic of 2020, one constant has been the heightened public awareness of global supply chains and their impact on acute shortages of essential products like face masks and ventilators. No two economies are more closely connected by supply chains across many industries than the United States and Mexico. DUCIGS’ Rethinking Diplomacy program hosted this webinar that highlights how Covid-19 transformed the business and political ties between the U.S. and Mexico, based on insights from two individuals uniquely positioned to navigate the Covid-19 crisis on a daily basis:
Brian Brisson (former Minister Counselor for Commercial Affairs, U.S. Embassy in Mexico;)
Jorge L. Torres (President, FedEx Express Mexico and President, American Chamber of Commerce Mexico).
The webinar was moderated by Gary Gereffi (Emeritus Professor, and Director, Duke Global Value Chains Center) and hosted by Giovanni Zanalda, Director of the Duke Center for International and Global Studies (DUCIGS)/Rethinking Diplomacy Program (RDP).
This event is the fourth webinar in the RDP "COVID-19 and Global Supply Chain Series" organized by DUCIGS with the support of the Josiah Charles Trent Memorial Foundation Endowment Fund.
The event was also supported by the Duke Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies.
