Covid Santa is coming to town! We all hate this pandemic, and as Christmas approaches, we realise how that is going to be impacted as well. I work with children and while they have been incredibly resilient this year, everything does take its toll. I have had some ask me about Christmas, so have been thinking about how to respond in a way that keeps the magic while explaining the reality - they may not get the Santa experience they usually do.
My dad works as a Santa through TSS Workforce for Smith & Caughey in Auckland, and even while our restrictions in New Zealand are very few currently, children will be visiting a masked Santa this year, with other safety measures in place. In many other countries, a photo with Santa is just not a possibility this year, let alone a somewhat normal Christmas. And while we may have bigger things to think about, children do care.
So hopefully this video will help a bit - a Covid Christmas narrative for your kids, helping them focus on kindness to others while understanding why Christmas will be different this year.
