It always starts out innocently - "I'll just keep a few backyard hens." Then it descends into mayhem as the number keeps growing. Ask anyone keeping chickens - Chicken Math is a thing! An unexplainable, exponential increase in number of chickens kept, when one or two was the original plan, often expanding to include other farm animals and homesteading activities. As a chicken keeper myself, since I've written songs about cats and dogs, my other pets, it seemed only fair to write about this phenomenon as well.
Most of the chickens in this video are our little flock of oldies and rescues - three roosters and six hens. RIP to Captain Janeway, one of our hens in the video, who died a few days ago.
