Coupland Dance Hall, Coupland (2026)
There's a sound that only comes from a hundred year old wood floor built for dancing, and you can still hear it echoing through Coupland Dance Hall on a Saturday night. Built in the 1890s, this is one of the last true honky tonks left in Texas, and it hasn't slowed down since.
We wrapped up our day in Elgin with a Honky Tonk Night at Coupland, complete with live country music from platinum recording artist Mark Chesnutt. Couples two stepped across boards worn smooth by more than a century of Friday and Saturday nights, proof that some Texas traditions never go out of style.
If you want to see where Texas keeps its dance hall culture alive, Coupland is the place. It's just thirty miles northeast of Austin near Elgin, Taylor, and Georgetown, and it's worth the drive for a night of boots, fiddles, and two step lessons you didn't know you needed.
