This is a short sample of the anti-choice Rally4Life provided to explain and illustrate the method by which we reached the conclusion that around 5300 people marched and not the 70,000 claimed by organisers.
The organisers of the march have managed to get away every year with using their influence to get media, in particular RTE, to report ludicrously high attendances. This year we were ready and videoed the entire march to demonstrate how long it really was (43 minutes, 29 seconds) and counted one minute segments to calculate how many really marched. An average 'last year of primary school' kid can tell you that about 5300 marched and that 'tens of thousands'(never mind the organisers claimed 70,000) is physically impossible.
The maths
110+120+100+150 = 480
480 / 4 = 120 average per minute
120 * 44 = 5280 people passing
The organisers claimed there are 70,000 people passing, They'd need to be jogging in tight packed formation at about 10kmph to fit 70k in that time - that would be 1600 people per minute
