In this video, we revisit Operation Gomorrah—the devastating Allied bombing campaign against Hamburg, Germany, in 1943 that destroyed large parts of the city and claimed tens of thousands of lives.
Using DCS World, we explore an alternate-history scenario. Instead of hundreds of WWII bombers conducting area bombardment, a single flight of 1990s F-14B(U) Tomcats armed with four 2,000 lb JDAM precision-guided bombs each is tasked with a very different mission.
With the aid of modern ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance), we identify and target 28 critical bridges rather than bombing entire neighborhoods. The objective is to examine whether precision strikes against key infrastructure could inflict greater strategic and industrial disruption while minimizing civilian harm.
This simulation explores the evolution of air warfare—from mass bombing campaigns to precision-guided munitions—and asks whether modern technology can achieve strategic military objectives with dramatically reduced collateral damage.
