The second episode in our Sea Power mini tactical undersea dogfight series is here!
In this modern naval warfare simulation, a US Navy Virginia Block III attack submarine faces off against a PLAN Type 055 Renhai-class destroyer in a tense battle beneath the waves of the South China Sea.
The Virginia launches a deadly combination of Mk 48 Mod 7 heavyweight torpedoes, UGM-84 Harpoon anti-ship missiles, and UGM-109 Tomahawk cruise missiles. Meanwhile, the Type 055 deploys Z-9 ASW helicopters equipped with dipping sonar to hunt the submarine before striking back with Yu-12 anti-submarine torpedoes and Yu-15 rocket-assisted torpedoes.
Can the stealth and firepower of the Virginia prevail, or will the advanced sensors and anti-submarine capabilities of the Type 055 dominate the battlefield?
