CORGI JUNIORS Jaguar XJ-S custom
In last week's video, I decided to create my own Lynx Eventer which was a coachbuilt shooting brake based on a Jaguar XJ-S. To do this, I extended the roof section of one Corgi Juniors XJ-S casting using a donor model. But it felt like such a waste to harvest it for parts and then simply discard it. In this video, I make use of what is leftover to create two completely different models out of two almost identical castings.
If you haven't already gathered, I'm making a convertible version of the XJ-S. These didn't officially arrive from Jaguar until 1988. They had produced the XJ-SC which had a targa style roof with permanent roof bars, while some coachbuilders did also create their own full convertibles. The Jaguar convertible was only a two seater at first until it became a 2+2 in the early 1990s. Remember, the XJ-S was the car designed to replace the E-Type and a full convertible was missing from it's grand tourer for 12 years following its introduction.
Personally, even though I quite like the look of an XJ-S, particularly an early one, I think both the Lynx Eventer and convertible do look even more handsome than the standard car.
