A moment of our past resurrected for the keen eye. An exact replica wooden boat of the late 19 Century passes the Copeland lighthouse on Mew Island, built in the same period. It was a time of wind and sail and great volumes of maritime traffic relying on highly skilled sailors from across the known world of trade. Somehow, this period seems elegant and often effortless in comparison to our hurried modern world of change and 24/7 cycles.
I managed to find the owner of this beautiful boat for an interview, having formerly covered the history of the lighthouses on these small islands - see below.
