The 30th COP climate conference is coming in Brazil - Nov. 10-21, 2025. But, what does this mean for YOU? In 1992 the Rio Earth Conference led to the creation of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and drove the subsequent meetings of the "COP" Conference of the Parties (meaning countries who were signatory to the UNFCCC declaration) related to climate change risks and events, engaging all the signatory nations to the UNFCCC convention. These climate conferences have been going on for some 30 years with no reduction in greenhouse gases globally, but with a terrible toll of degrowth of Western Nations, while competitor nations like China and India (who are not deemed liable for climate damages) emit as they will. There has long been a notion that OECD nations (developed, industrialized nations) 'caused' climate change and 'damage' to developing nations, So, it would be okay, and even ethical, to raid YOUR wallet to pay these alleged 'climate reparations.' Therefore the theory is that the industrialized north must 'pay' climate reparations - known as 'loss and damage.' This alleged need was formally recognized at COP29 in Azerbaijan; but how realistic is it? AND is this claim based on science or on climate propaganda by big green philanthropies with vested interest in carbon markets ???
