The flood safety situation in the Wadden region satisfies to all legal standards. Keeping up safety standards is ideally met by nourishing the coast with sand. Deltares investigated in close collaboration with Rijkswaterstaat what is required to keep the Dutch coast sustainable and safe in the long run. Within this research special attention is paid to effects of nourishments on ecology.
