Enjoy this special evening with artist Julie Mehretu in conversation with Curator of Contemporary Art at LACMA, Christine Y. Kim, and Assistant Curator at the Whitney Museum of American Art, Rujeko Hockley. The conversation will be moderated by the High’s Wieland Family Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art, Michael Rooks.
The group will discuss the first-ever comprehensive retrospective of Mehretu’s career, which covers over two decades of her examination of history, colonialism, capitalism, geopolitics, war, global uprising, diaspora, and displacement through abstraction, architecture, landscape, movement, and most recently, figuration.
Julie Mehretu, co-organized by the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, opens at the High on October 24. Reserve your ticket now, or become a member to see the exhibition before it opens to the public.
Support for Conversations with Contemporary Artists is provided by the Jane F. and Clayton F. Jackson Conversations with Contemporary Artists Endowment.
