Ayyub is the first Indian journalist to receive a National Press Club Award. She has faced government intimidation including travel restrictions for her work and has been experiencing threats of violence. She is a contributor to Washington Post Opinions.
Rezaian, also on staff at Washington Post Opinions, frequently writes about press freedom issues. Rezaian was Washington Post Tehran Bureau Chief when arrested on false charges in 2014. He was held 544 days in Iranian prison and endured a sham trial before being released and returned to the States.
