In this video, we preview construction on SR 520 that will begin later this summer in Seattle. Like the name suggests, the project connects SR 520 to the I-5 express lanes. Project elements include a reversible transit/HOV ramp between SR 520 and the I-5 express lanes; a modified, reversible ramp between the I-5 express lanes and Mercer Street; and modifications to the express lanes that retain the existing four general-purpose lanes while adding a transit/HOV lane. This work is part of the “The Rest of the West” construction projects that will add capacity between the new floating bridge over Lake Washington and I-5 in Seattle.

Correction: The I-5 express lanes close at 11 p.m. on weekdays, not at 11:30 p.m.
