Some time ago I learned of these trucks, and just knew that I had to get them on film! Not only is the STARR System unique to CR&R, but they own very few Condors too. And I must say, they look great in these colors!
So to find these trucks I had come out here on a Friday several week ago only to find out that they didn't run in any towns that day as far as I could tell. So I decided to look in some small towns around El Centro to see if I could find out what trucks collected them. I found a few carts out on a Friday evening, and by looking at the marks left on the carts, I knew for sure the town I was in (where this video was made) was collected by STARRS as they tend to leave very distinct marks. I also knew that Amreps didnt collect here since they too leave very distinct marks and I could not see those on the carts. Being that I found full carts on a Friday evening I made the assumption they were out super early for a Monday route. This past Monday, I finally decided to come back out here with Alex and sure enough, that earlier trip paid off because I found the STARRS on this very Monday route. Sometimes things just come together, and this was one of those occasions.
I'm fairly sure that these trucks were bought from a city in New Mexico by PVVD a few years back. Then later CR&R bought PVVD.
I believe they only have 2 STARRs (being used), and both are in this video. I know they have a third one the same as these 2 which is not in use. The driver of the second truck asked that we only film from the back, and he was nice about it so I got 2 clips (at the very end of the video) and that was it. Thanks to both drivers.
