Dr. Matthew J. Gombeda is a Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering at Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, IL. He is actively involved in both experimental and computational structural engineering research and oversees the Concrete Materials and Structures Laboratory at Illinois Tech. His major research areas include: behavior and mechanics of reinforced and prestressed concrete structures, innovative precast/prestressed concrete components, innovative cementitious materials, experimental testing of concrete materials and structural systems, and blast design and analysis methodologies. Dr. Gombeda is also an active member of both the American Concrete Institute (ACI) and the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute (PCI), serving on numerous technical committees focusing on concrete materials and structures.
