This month we are very excited to be joined by Chef Amy Symington, MSc, PhD Candidate.
Amy is a nutrition professor, researcher and nutrition-focused chef in Toronto, ON. She is currently finishing her PhD in Nutritional Sciences at the University of Toronto under the Faculty of Medicine. She runs the culinary nutrition programming at Gilda's Toronto (a not-for-profit cancer organization), is the culinary nutrition specialist for Canada's Forward Food team where she trains chefs across Canada how to implement Canada's Food Guide in large food operations like hospitals, long term care facilities, schools and shelters, and she works with the Toronto Veg Food Bank (TVFB) as a chef, nutrition consultant, culinary instructor. Amy is passionate about the practical application of nutritional science through the culinary arts and believes in the evidence-based health and environmental benefits of plant-forward diets. She has an award-winning cookbook called The Long Table Cookbook: Plant-based recipes for optimal health and is the proud mom of 2 healthy and happy children.
