What is the Victorian Ombudsman? We asked Deputy Ombudsman Andrew Adason to explain.
“The Ombudsman is an independent body that exists in recognition of the imbalance of power between the individual and the state. Our role is to deal with complaints and investigate actions and decisions of the government to promote fairness in public administration. In Victoria, the Ombudsman is also the human rights complaint handler and investigator.”
The Victorian Ombudsman accepts complaints about public organisations – but there are also industry ombudsmen that help with complaints about telecommunications, public transport and other issues.
