If you press the power button on your brand new build and absolutely nothing happens, do not panic just yet. The culprit is very often the front panel connectors, which are notoriously tiny and remarkably easy to plug into the wrong pins on your motherboard.

To check you have done it right, consult your motherboard manual for the exact pin layout or look for the small positive and negative markings printed on the board itself. If you suspect a bad connection, pull the tiny power switch connector off and carefully bridge the two power pins with the tip of a screwdriver to see if the system powers up.

Thankfully manufacturers have made this process much simpler over the years. We used to rely on helpful adaptors like Asus Q Connectors to bundle those tiny pins together, but most modern cases now ship with a single unified front panel block.
