The Empire Strikes Back is a fan made conversion of the Atari 2600 classic of the same name. The game has been made freely by Megastyle available on May 4th 2022 to download at itch.io

A great conversion to the C64 with some additional gameplay mechanics. While I could have played better, I wanted to be sure to show the various gameplay elements and not to speedrun it.
I show a full run of 8 levels leading to the end sequence. The game then loops which is a good way to show the bad end. The second loop is more difficult but ill save that for the 'wol' Longplay.
The game zipps a long at a steady pace and the controls are responsive. Avoiding the single missile that comes at you can be challenging as it tracks and random flying droids that appear can take you by surprise. The game starts off fairly easy to allow you to get used to the mechanics but steps up the difficulty by level 5 with more walkers to destroy putting pressure on available to time before they destroy the shield generator.
The AT-AT's can be shot from the front and behind but they weaker at the head so can be killed quicker if you can get the shots off there. A droid hatch will also open on occasionally allowing you to land a kill shot if you get the aim spot on. Missing and the droid will come at you!
Overall a great C64 conversion that expands on the gameplay of the original with great presentation.
