Ending Slavery’s Legacy of Racism: The Imperative for Strengthening Justice and Resilience in Afro-Descendant Communities in the Americas

"As an advocate, communications and public relations professional, social
interaction enthusiast, debater and most importantly a youth leader, my vision for young people are anchored by the late Nobel Peace Prize laureate and Secretary-General of the United Nations Kofi Annan’s mantra; “Young people should be at the forefront of global change and innovation. Empowered, they can be key agents for development and peace. If, however, they are left on society’s margins, all of us will be impoverished. Let us ensure that all young people have every opportunity to participate fully in the lives of their societies.” Undoubtedly, globalization, diversity and the millennial shift have proven that young people must be able to participate fervently to decisions that will impact our generation and ultimately generations beyond us.

I am Geena Mc. Phee, Public Relations Officer of the National Workers Union
Youth Council (NWUYC), Former Executive Member of the Castries East Youth and Sports Council (CEYSC), Past Acting Public Relations Officer of the Saint Lucia National Youth Union (NYC), former Volunteer of Girls of A Feather and the Communications and Public Relations Officer of the Saint Lucia Air and Sea Ports Authority (SLASPA). I believe in the influence of advocacy and its ability once aligned with action to initiate change. I am passionate about the arts, particularly poetry and calypso. These literary platforms demonstrate the true essence of language in its most witty and strategic form. My pieces are inspired by societal issues."
