Effective CNC have created a hybrid machine that can perform both additive and subtractive machining operations at the same time. Renishaw’s plug-and-play optical position encoders, machine tool probes and custom tool setting system were integrated to support this revolutionary design.

• 00:00 – 00:35 - Choosing Renishaw
• 00:36 – 01:54 - Benefits and components of hybrid machine tool design
• 01:55 – 02:24 - Manufacturing large pieces
• 02:25 – 02:39 - Lights-out manufacturing with collaborative robot
• 02:40 – 03:59 - Integrating Renishaw’s FORTiS encoders, workpiece measuring systems and custom tool measuring systems

The resulting combination of milling, turning and grinding capabilities with an additive manufacturing (AM) device is claimed to substantially increase end-to-end process productivity and enable the AM manufacturing of challenging metal parts.
