High School Chemistry

It is essential to look at colours of indicators in real life in order to appreciate the true colours involved.

It's not possible to show the colours of acid base indicators accurately in movie clips.

Nevertheless, it's not always possible for students to get into the chemistry lab and observe the true colours, so this movie clip may go some way to support their studies at school.

Three indicators are shown
Litmus
Phenolphthalein
Methyl orange

Each indicators is shown in three small beakers containing from left to right
Hydrochloric acid, 0.1M
Tap water
Sodium hydroxide, 0.1M

The tap water was tested with Universal indicator and found to be approximately neutral or around pH 7.
