i originally wanted to make smth longer and more heartfelt for the end of this wretched year + to commemorate the fact that ive been editing with vegas for like. 5 years now. man thats like a punch in the face. i was gonna use that one coldplay song i hyperfixated on for like 3 months but what i wanted to do was a full video and i rlly didnt feel like crunching that all at once. so instead we get this
these two movies meant a lot to me in 2020 - spiderverse brought me a lot of comfort and its characters mean the absolute world to me, and wolfwalkers appeared as exactly the type of movie i wouldve loved when i was a kid that leaves me with a sweet sense of nostalgia now. all things considered, these are probably the movies youll be seeing the most of on my channel in the future. i still view animash as a very creative medium that i would love to dip into from time to time, but ultimately my inspiration there lies mainly in revisiting memories and sad feelings so its not always a fun time to edit.
editing has meant a lot to me over the years - it started years ago when i recorded clips of alpha and omega on my shitty 12 pixel phone camera to edit in this phone video editing app (nowhere NEAR the quality of videostar or any of those apps btw. it was good for its time tho) to edit with bring me to life from the evanescence album my mother used to play on repeat in the car that i had recorded snippets of from her computer bc i didnt yet know how to get that sweet hd music. i did not end up finishing my debut video, but it did end up making a comeback with the same movie recorded in better quality from my tablet and put together with windows live movie maker. this little hobby evolved from being a fun thing to do, throwing random clips together with no meaning along to music while living in rural hell and barely having contact with anyone else, to becoming a way for me to be able to confront past emotions and events and reframe them. who knew that when i first recorded those shitty clips of a&o that 10 or so years later id be here confronting my deep-seated trauma with animated movies.
while were on the subject of editing: its also been about five years since i first created this youtube account. during my time here ive met so many wonderful people, some of whom im proud to call my friends, and im forever grateful for all the sweet comments and other support ive received on my videos over the years. especially all the nice comments on the edgy batty koda amvs. despite how absolutely wild they were, yall in the mash community just took it in your stride.

look memes aside, im glad for the experiences ive had in this community. even tho my mash inspiration is tanked 99% of the time its still fun to watch all the creative stuff the people in this community come up with. keep on throwing your fantastic work out there u funky little mashers
as for me: editing is still an important part of my life. i plan to keep it that way. sure, i might go radio silent for a month or two and then come back with like 5 videos in the span of a single week, but thats about on brand for my work ethic so if thats the type of video experience you want, youre in the right place. while this channel started off as one for animash, its going to continue to be a place where i put all sorts of lil edits that i throw together in my spare time. will animash appear occasionally ?? who knows. theres a good chance it will.
