Stateless Code | Codecast: Create a RubyGem 58: Write total_ability_scores method @StatelessCode | Uploaded September 2021 | Updated October 2024, 2 hours ago.
This is the 58th video in the NerdDice create a RubyGem series. In this video Mike writes the total_ability_scores method that has similar input and output to the total_dice method where it has the same arguments as roll_ability_scores but returns an array of Integers instead of an array of DiceSet objects.

This video covers:
00:00:12 Introduction
00:01:15 Create spec file and write "it" methods
00:02:40 Implement spec to check roll_ability_scores gets called properly
00:05:42 Write specs about expected values with and without options and get failures
00:08:17 Write the method
00:10:51 Troubleshoot problems with getting the seed consistent in the spec due to configuration and before hook issues
00:24:58 Change RuboCop config to prefer receive over have_received
00:29:30 Commit, push, update backlog
