I have no idea why Sledgehammer chose to classify the M1941 LMG as a rifle rather than creating a copy of an actual M1941 rifle.

The low damage and limited range of this gun make it marginally effective in standard mode.

However the high rate of fire combined with relatively low recoil make this gun incredibly effective in hardcore mode.
