Union Pacific train MPRPB-16 carried the last 2 unpatched Chicago & Northwestern C44-9W locomotives from Proviso to Arkansas.

Known in the railfan community as the Proviso Twins, these 2 engines have spent the last 22 years owned by UP, but never having been patched or painted. For the last several months, they have been in storage at the Illinois Railway Museum in Union, IL. Former CNW management still employed in the Chicago area have kept a protective watch on these locomotives in hopes of saving them from this fate for as long as possible. Sadly, they were flagged in the system as not having PTC equipment and were given orders to be sent to Jenks Shop in N. Little Rock, AR. To make matters worse, when they were reviewed by management in Omaha, it was also noted they had not been patched or painted, and a fresh paint job was ordered to match them to the company standard of yellow and gray.

This video covers a portion of their final trip, from Dupo to Chester, IL in southern Illinois.
This was a joint trip, railfanning along side fellow Youtuber waltersrailroad. This is the link to his video
