This is just a short (silent) video that shows the three Cosmic Mircowave Background radiation (CMB) maps from the three instruments that captured this data, COBE, WMAP and Planck. The COBE data was collected from 1989-1993 using an instrument that was in Earth's orbit at 900 km above the Earth. The WMAP and Planck instruments were collecting data 1.5 million miles from the earth at the Earth-Sun L2 point. The Sun-Earth L2 Lagrange point is a stable "parking spot" in space located 1.5 million km from Earth, opposite the Sun, where gravitational forces and centrifugal force balance.
What I find fascinating is how perfectly the anisotropy (tiny temperature fluctuations) from each map match up. Although the resolution of the COBE map was quite low, you can clearly see how well the temperature fluctuations line up with the other two maps.
The reason I made this video is because, there are some independent researchers out there (Robitaille et al) that believe that the CMB signal originates from water here on Earth and it not a cosmic signal after all. I have a BIG problem with this. The fact that these three maps, whose data was collected from three different instruments in variuous different locations (Earth's orbit vs Sun-Earth L2), display identical fluctuations in identical locations in all three maps IS the smoking gun against the "Earthly" source of the CMB, not to mention the fact that the WMAP and Planck instruments weren't anywhere near the earth when they collected their data.
Contamination of the instruments or miscalibration also cannot explain this because all three instruments would have to be contaminated in exactly the same manner and/or contain the same calibration error, and even then, this wouldn't explain the precise anisotropy correlation between these three maps.
It is my opinion that Robitaille's hypothesis falls flat on this information alone. No other evidence is needed falsify his theory. Let me know if you agree.
