Clock Tower Theme (Song of Healing) from The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. Always wanted to cover some music from this legendary Nintendo N64 game, it was about time!
I tried to stay faithful to Koji Kondo's original Clock Tower arrangement in the first part, but then I took it in my own direction. The finger drumming beat mainly consists of various clock samples, which I thought was fitting for a game where time is always running out.
You probably know this by now, but I play all parts simultaneously, and every sound you hear was recorded live in one take:
1. Choir / strings / bells / soft pad - Sequential Prophet XL synthesizer.
2. Bass - Steinberg Retrologue and some fx plugins.
3. Drums - almost all clock samples with various fx such as delay and pitch randomization to make them sound more organic. The controller I use for drumming + synth bass is a custom design called "Arcadia".
4. "Ocarina" type synth sound - also Retrologue. Triggered both from the Prophet XL keyboard and from the small Korg Microkey (for fills that don't include the other layers).
If you like what I do, please consider joining my Patreon so that I can keep making videos for you. Get a download of this full track and many more as soon as you join:
