[CLASSICAL MUSIC] - "Harpsichord suite no. 24" by François Couperin
A harpsichord, also known by the name cembalo, is a musical instrument played by means of a keyboard. It produces sound by plucking a string when a key is pressed.
In the narrow sense, "harpsichord" designates only the large wing-shaped instruments in which the strings are perpendicular to the keyboard.
François Couperin is known above all for his harpsichord music: between 1713 and 1730 he published four books of suites (ordres) for harpsichord.
The movements of these suites have highly ornamented melodies and complex accompaniments, with frequent dialogues between treble and bass.

Ernest Chausson composed his Poème, Op. 36, between the years 1896 and 1898. These are onr song for voice and piano, called Cantique à lépouse and Dans la forêt du charme et de lenchantement.
The first one has music set to original words by Albert Jounet and the second by Jean Moréas (Ioannis A. Papadiamantopoulos). These songs were first published in 1903.

Frédéric Chopin wrote the last of his impromptus in 1842. It was published in 1843 (thus being the third in order of publishing, as the Fantaisie Impromptu was printed posthumously, in 1855).
It is in the key of G flat major, in a 12/8 time signature, and dedicated to Mme. la Comtesse Esterhaz.

The Symphony no. 3 in F major, Op. 90 by Johannes Brahms was written in 1883 at Wiesbaden, and premiered that same year by the Vienna Philharmonic. The symphony was well received, and although Wagner had died earlier that year, the public feud between Brahms and him had not yet subsided.
Wagner enthusiasts tried to interfere with the symphonys premiere, and the conflict between the two factions nearly brought about a duel. After each performance, Brahms polished his score further, until it was published in 1884. The shortest of Brahms four symphonies, a typical performance lasts 30-40 minutes, and it is scored two flutes, two oboes, two clarinets, two bassoons, a contrabassoon, four horns, two trumpets, three trombones, timpani, and strings.

The Prelude of this suite consists of an A–B–A–C form. The Allemande is the only movement in the suites that has an up-beat consisting of three semiquavers instead of just one, which is the standard form. The second Bourrée, though in C minor, has a 2-flat key-signature.
This notation, common in pre-Classical music, is sometimes known as a partial key-signature. The first and second Bourrée of the third suite is sometimes used as solo material for other bass instruments such as the tuba, euphonium, trombone and bassoon.
