The term "ballade" was associated with French poetry until the mid-19th century, when Chopin was among the first to pioneer it as a musical form.
Structurally, his ballades follow a form that is similar to the sonata, but with some variations, mainly regarding the position of the themes during the recapitulation.
The Ballade no. 2, Op. 38, was composed from 1836 to 1839 and dedicated to Schumann, in return for his dedication of the Kreisleriana. Schumann, however, agreed with contemporary critics in noting the less inspired nature of this piece compared to the first Ballade.

Felix Draeseke composed his String Quartet no. 3, Op. 66, in 1895.
It was published in 1899 by Robert Forberg in Leipzig, dedicated to Alfred, Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha.
The work in the key of C sharp minor and features five movements that span around 28 minutes in a typical performance.

Cécile Chaminade wrote her Flute Concertino in D major, Op. 107, in 1902. Originally conceived as a piece for orchestra and flute and dedicated to flautist and teacher Paul Taffanel., it was later transcribed for piano and flute.
The work was comissioned by the Paris Conservatoire, possibly as an examination piece for students. It remains a standard piece in the flute repertoire, considered technically challenging for most players.

Man has always needed love and care. He wants to feel protected by someone stronger than him. For this reason, he used mythology to interpret the events of his primitive everyday life, by attributing them to supernatural forces. Giving his own explanations for the unexplained enabled him to cover his basic insecurities.
At the same time he managed to satisfy his vanity of superiority on the rest living things on the planet, as he believed he had the goodwill of the boss. Of course, he didnt omit to express his gratitude to the supernatural powers on every occasion. The first religion was born.
Over the centuries, primitive religions have shown the way to new ones. Although the human talk was always present at events of worship, it evolved enough to help the spread of the prayer as the most direct tool for communicating with God. No matter if this communication is one-sided or bilateral; it is more than certain that the prayer is beneficial to the man who prays, because he receives back the positive energy caused by him.

Emmanuel Chabrier composed and published the Habanera in 1888. The piece was conceived for piano, and the popular orchestral arrangement (transposed to the key of D) was not published until a year later.
This piece is another example of the attraction that the French composers felt towards Spanish-like pieces during the late 19th century and the beginning of the 20th.

Being extremely difficult pieces, Debussy described them as a warning to pianists not to take up the musical profession unless they have remarkable hands.

Frédéric Chopin wrote his Ballade no. 3 in A flat major, Op. 47, in 1841, and published it with dedication to Pauline de Noailles. It shares some similarities with the Raindrop Prelude, as both of them were said to be inspired by a disastrous trip to Majorca with George Sand.
Chopin may be said to be the creator of the Ballade as a distinct genre, inspiring many musicians (such as Liszt and Brahms) to write their own Ballades.
Though the pieces seem to be entirely different between them, analysts have shown that the Ballades share a number of traits, like a mirror reexposition (where the order of the first and second themes are inverted), and the so called ballade meter (a 6/8 or 6/4 meter).
