I referred to Marco Rubio and Harry Reid as "just UFO Fans" in an interview for The New Yorker, and it was recently repeated in Newsweek. This does not mean I'm dismissive of their interest in the UAP issue. Unidentified airspace incursions and unresolved pilot sightings are both very serious issues that deserve study.

What I AM dismissive of is the idea that these are aliens. I don't think there's any good evidence to indicate that. I also think that Reid's, and, to a lesser extent, Rubio's entertaining of that aspect is partly down to them being UFO fans.

UAPs represent a serious issue. Aliens, not so much.
