The NALSAR University of Law controversy has now reached the Supreme Court after the Bar Council of India (BCI) initially stopped the enrolment of the university’s 2026 graduating batch as advocates. The controversy began after around 450 NALSAR students raised objections to Chief Justice of India (CJI) Surya Kant being invited as the chief guest for the university’s convocation.
The BCI, headed by Chairman Manan Kumar Mishra, sought details about the students’ campaign and initially directed that NALSAR’s 2026 law graduates should not be enrolled as advocates.
