At a help desk outside a hospital in Kathmandu, lists of rescued people and photographs of those still missing cover the walls. Around 2,500 people are reported missing, with families putting up posters and contact numbers in the hope that someone has seen their loved ones.

The help desk is also recording missing-person details so that families can be contacted if someone is rescued or brought to a hospital.
