This animation won best moving visualization in the 2025 CIRES science illustration contest.
From creator Lee Feinman: "Communicating ‘science’ is both my biggest challenge and most important goal. Because of this, I have decided to create and post simple climate-relevant chemistry mini lessons on social media. My hope is that an appreciation for the more fundamental concepts will encourage faith in climate-related research. These videos are intended for those with limited scientific backgrounds, and I aim to present tougher topics using unique analogies to connect with those who identify as scientifically averse.
The judges felt this entry used a casual style reminiscent of Khan Academy and included relatable metaphors to make the topic approachable for a non-scientist audience.
