The suspect accused of terrorizing Philadelphia residents while wearing a creepy mask has been arrested in Nevada, authorities announced Tuesday.
Zymire Hughes, 22, was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service Nevada Violent Offender Task Force at about 8 p.m. in Las Vegas, according to authorities. He is being held at the Clark County Detention Center as he awaits extradition to Pennsylvania.
“Tonight, the fear that one man brought to the Philadelphia community comes to an end,” Supervisory Deputy U.S. Marshal Robert Clark said.
Investigators said Hughes fled Philadelphia on Aug. 19, first flying from Trenton-Mercer Airport to Orlando, Florida. Authorities said he then flew from Orlando to Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas.
Clark said investigators tracked Hughes to an apartment in southeast Las Vegas, where they believe he had been staying for about five days.
“We've actually worked on this since last Friday. They worked through the weekend. And we just tried to narrow things down to a point today where everything came together,” Clark said.
