Hello everyone!

So this cover came about for a few different reasons.
Reason numero uno: There were a couple of requests in the comments for me to do this song as a cover, which is interesting, as I have not seen that many covers of it.
Reason number two is that my dad had the idea of where to record this. My parents are moving their work place (not saying where from or where to), and in the process of clearing out the old area, my dad decided that recording the drums and guitar there would give a great amount of reverberation and liveliness to the recording.

While reading up about the song, I found out how the genius composer Yasunori Mitsuda got the "clanking" sound effect that can be heard in the song from; the "Rhythm" sound from a Korg M1 keyboard. The sound of the clanking that is in the original song (and in this video) is slowed down by probably around 20% from what actually plays from the keyboard.

The seemingly random snare drum hits in the intro and pre-solo are meant to replicate the sound of the thunder that happens at random intervals in the game while in the overworld map.

The sustaining notes on my dad's Vantage are all produced simply by having the amplifier turned up so loud that nearly all the notes start feeding back when lightly plucking the string. I figured I'd mention this so no-one asks where the hell the E-bow or Sustainiac pickup is. ;)

As far as influences go, for this cover I wanted a Gilmour-esque lead tone, so I used my homemade Fuzz Face clone, which has been featured now in a few of my other covers (Singing Mountain, Ikana Valley and Sign of Evil). The type of sound I was going for was the sound of the intro of "Sorrow" from Pink Floyd's "A Momentary Lapse of Reason" album, which I think I achieved well.

Also on the topic of David Gilmour, the structure of the chord arpeggios played on the Stratocaster are derived from the song "In Any Tongue" from David Gilmour's most recent album "Rattle That Lock". The small fill just before the guitar solo is also from that same song.
