Lavos has well, gone far over the years.
It started in 2018... 5 years ago now. Wow.
The original channel hosted content that was mainly extended versions of remixes and albums, almost exclusively related to Chrono Trigger. However, it was copystruck by Square in 2021, around the time it copystriked and killed the Taia777/internet checkpoint channel.
Since then, this channel has served to host primarily playlists - Chrono themed but also some more linked to Toby Fox games, Omori, Donkey Kong & other SNES titles, and more.
This playlist features some of my personal favorite Chrono Trigger covers.

Ah... This one has a certain simple yet appealing charm to it. This track is the one which inspired me to make this mix. While I've featured it before, this is the truest energy I get from the song.
4:03 - Corridors of Time (moonbowmusicmovie)
When I listen to these songs, sometimes they are tied to specific moments in my mind. For this one. I recall listening to this while I was out on a walk. I sat on the trunk of a fallen tree, overlooking a vast pond. I was alone and at peace, and the emotion of that natural scenery translated perfectly to the emotion of the music.
8:53 - Wind Scene (insaneintherain)
Wind Scene, surprisingly, is not really one of my favorites of the Chrono Trigger OST. However... A good Wind Scene remix is like no other. This has been one of my favorites of Wind Scene, of VGM jazz covers, of insaneintherain since the moment I first heard it, and I hope that appreciation is shared!
14:04 - Manoria Cathedral (Daniel Capo)
Manoria Cathedral is certainly a nice, yet short tune in the game. Yet it translates so well to these longer-form covers and variations that this might as well be an official piano cover of the thing!
17:49 - The Lavoscore (haconiwa)
A very underrated cover of a very underrated final battle music. I always see people calling Last Battle "a disappointment" and I cannot quite understand it. The original is one of the most inspiring songs to my own compositional style that I have ever encountered, and this cover is a breathtaking work of art.
22:40 - Singing Mountain (The Consouls)
The most iconic "unused" song I've ever heard. A sincere and beautiful yet rather playful cover of this theme. I remember a few years ago; listening to this as it snowed for the first time. It was quite unforgettable, I think.
27:28 - At the End of All Things (Abadoss)
An OCReMix! And a very different, yet peaceful one at that. It's a song I've wanted to feature in something for some time now - and I'm happy to have the opportunity here!
33:29 - Schala's Theme (Ryan Lafford)
Schala's Theme... One of the most iconic things ever presented in the game. In my opinion, this is the perfect cover of this thing. No other cover gets the emotion of the original down so expertly and yet is able to expand upon it so much.
38:21 - Scattering Blossoms (Gentle Love)
This song. One of the Chrono Trigger covers that is personally most moving to me. I heard it and first began to appreciate it during a rather depressive episode in my life and ever since I've always cherished the emotional yet minimalist take on these song.
46:22 - Corridors of Time (Zohar)
Another one which is very personally stirring for me. I couldn't help but ever since I heard this, I have imagined this as making excellent wedding music. I am sure that one day, I will be able to fulfill that and hear this as I walk down the aisle!!
49:13 - Far Off Promise (AndrewPlaysPiano)
I did not realize I had this saved until I went searching during this video. It's soft and peaceful yet has a power all of it's own. It can be difficult for a song to manage such a contradictory yet amazing tone yet those songs are always the greatest.
53:24 - To Far Away Times (Kara Comparetto)
This is my first time featuring Kara Comparetto's piano works, I believe. She really has some incredible stuff, so I do hope I can feature more on this channel in the future!! And a lovely note to end this wonderful mix on.

Chronology is the album that got me into jazz. It expanded my taste in remixes and music as a whole greatly. Every single track is one I can come back to time and time again. I appreciate this album highlighting some more underrated tracks like Ruined World and Sealed Door by separating each track by the era of the game they are associated with. These talented performers really cooked up something special with this album, and I am very excited for whatever they produce next.
This is a quality over quantity album, and I appreciate that. Its a little more approachable than the official jazz arrange, The Brink of Time, however I enjoy both of them greatly. Picking between them would be like picking a favorite child!
0:00 - Way Before the Day Before Yesterday
Original Tracks: Lavos Theme, Burn! Bobonga!, Rhythm of Wind, Sky, and Earth
While the original Burn Bobonga felt like the aggressive excitement of a caveman party, this feels more like the subdued but still punchy tunes that youd hear at a city bar during the night. This is such a great introduction to the album, and I really like how this takes elements from a multitude of tracks and mixes them into one fluid piece.
4:48 - Triggernometry
Original Track: Chrono Trigger
This is the only track not remixed by the OC Jazz Collective, and is instead remixed by the Triplepoint Trio. I chose to feature the album cover instead of the art on the site for this one, because I feel like this is the Main Theme of the album, like how Chrono Trigger is the games main theme. I really like how this changes up the saxy style of the original and opts for a quiet, vibraphone-based melody. Itd probably make for some awesome study music!
12:18 - Times Seal
Original Track: Sealed Door
The original Sealed Door was a piece of mystery and melancholy. This, however, is more like a 5 star hotel! This album has a good amount of piano/sax based tracks. But since every track has a distinct vibe, the instrument combos never feel repetitive. I really hope people find this album as fun as I do.
19:17 - Neuga, Ziena, Zieber, Zom
Original Track: Battle With Magus
This one is a delight to listen to in the rain or the night. Its so different from the original and I really do appreciate that. The original is so good its hard to perfect it in a remix that sticks close to it. Some still manage that task, however most tend to go a different direction with it. And I honestly prefer the creativity expressed in this versus the many rock/metal arranges of Magus theme. Those are certainly good too, however this feels separate from the original theme, and I adore this because of that.
24:38 - Dream of Green
Original Tracks: Secret of the Forest, Memories of Green (Chrono Trigger)
There is maybe four or five absolutely incredible jazz arranges of Secret of the forest, and this is definitely part of that small group. Theres part of this which has some melodies from Memories of Green and Wind Scene, which I love. I really like the more synthy/guitar-y, beach-type style when compared to the rest of the album. This really stands out from the other tracks, making this my favorite from the album.
30:08 - Fight or Flight
Original Track: The Epoch - Wings That Cross Time
Much like the Chrono Trigger main theme, the Epoch theme was another song which was already very jazzy in tone with heavy saxophone. This one stays very true to the epoch theme, however it has some excellent airport/plane ish vibes. I love it! This whole album is one I love listening to while traveling. And this is my favorite version of the Epoch theme, after all.
36:14 - When Hell Freezes Over
Original Tracks: A Desolate World, Yearnings of the Wind
It’s so interesting to see how two thematically different tracks get combined in such a natural and fitting manner. This is moodier and more ambient (at least to start) than the other songs on the album, and with that change in tone all the familiar instruments like drums, vibraphones, saxophones, and horns suddenly feel very different. Very impressive work.
43:26 - Driftwood
Original Track: At the End of Time
Theres a bit of Far Off Promise (Called Memories of Crono by Gaspar) in this one. Fitting, huh? This one is pretty upbeat and serves as an excellent end to the album, and an exciting look into the future of the OC Jazz Collective. I really do love this album, and I do hope the OC Jazz crew returns sometime in the future to produce some more wonderful mixes.
