RECIPES:
Broccoli salad
1 bundle of fresh broccoli & cauliflower, grated
1 small onion, chopped
2 cups grated cheddar cheese
1/2 lb. bacon, fried and crumbled
Mix together.
Sauce:
3/4 cup mayo or salad dressing
3/4 cup sour cream
1/2 cup white sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
Mix sauce ingredients and pour over the broccoli mixture.
Russian Tea Balls
Mix:
1 cup soft butter
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
After the above is mixed together add:
2 1/4 cups flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup chopped nuts (we like pecans)
Chill dough
Roll into small balls and bake on an ungreased cookie sheet for approximately 20 minutes at 325 degrees.
While they are still warm, roll them in powdered sugar. After they are cool, roll them again in powdered sugar.
Dressing:
Cut up 1/2 to 3/4 loaf of bread into squares. Toast in a saucepan with 1/4 cup butter.
Mix together:
4 eggs
1 cup carrots, diced
1 cup celery, diced
2 cups milk
1 tablespoon parsley
salt and pepper
Add toasted bread and mix thoroughly. Add more milk if necessary.
Fry the mixture in 1/4 cup butter until browned and crumbly.
