For 260 years, the Christie’s rostrum has been a symbol of our commitment to exceptional art and objects. Originally designed by Thomas Chippendale for James Christie in the 1700s, it has witnessed countless astonishing moments. With each strike of the gavel, it stewards culture, beauty and history forward.

And as we look to the future, it takes on a new form that will carry on the legacy begun centuries ago. For this evolution, we sought the skills of Jony Ive and his creative collective LoveFrom. Much like Chippendale, Ive has left an indelible mark on the world through his creativity and work, changing the way we live. Crafted with sustainable wood from the same forests that helped restore Notré Dame, this new rostrum will stand at the heart of Christie's, honour our past while embracing what's to come.
