Fabergé’s global reputation is synonymous with the unparalleled series of Imperial Easter Eggs, produced between 1885 and 1916. Only fifty were ever completed and of these, forty-three survive — with only seven, including the Winter Egg, still in private hands.
Commissioned in 1913 and designed by Alma Pihl, one of the very few female designers at the House of Fabergé, the Winter Egg is carved from rock crystal, adorned with platinum and diamonds. It remains one of Fabergé’s most technically complex and beautiful works.
