Today I spoke with Matthew Taylor, host of the "Still Unbelievable" podcast. Matthew placed his faith in Jesus as a child but ultimately deconverted as the truth claims of Christianity fell apart.
We touched on many topics, including:
• Unpacking missionary culture in Zambia and its colonial undertones, including white privilege and racism.
• Recounting boarding school indoctrination including fear-based obedience and cruel punishment that trained kids not to question.
• Breaking down Young Earth Creationism, Bible-literal “certainty," and the ways that Christians poison the well against evolution and outsiders.
