Top Shot champion Chris Cheng has a new novel out, and it is not about guns. Proven in Blood follows a young Japanese American who is pulled out of college into an incarceration camp after Pearl Harbor and volunteers for the Army from inside the wire.
Cheng spent six years on it. He talked to veterans and their families, went to the museums, and walked the ground in Italy and France where the 100th Infantry Battalion and the 442nd
Regimental Combat Team fought. He also has a problem with the word we were all taught in school. Internment sounds like an internship. What happened was incarceration.
