Gun violence restraining orders were sold to the public as a last resort. If everything else fails, we can stop someone who is about to do something terrible. Most people, including most gun owners, thought that sounded reasonable.
Then some city attorneys, district attorneys and police departments started running them as standard operating procedure. Gun owner, any violation, file the order. We asked San Diego County Sheriff Kelly Martinez what her office actually does, and the number is far smaller than most people assume.

- Why the Second Amendment community was never against protective orders, and still is not
