Chery’s attempt to recreate Land Rover’s famed Heaven’s Gate stunt went off the rails - literally. During a promotional climb, the Defender-inspired Fulwin X3L lost power three quarters up the 999-step staircase, scraped a railing, and rolled backward in front of cameras.

Chery later blamed a detached safety rope that tangled in the wheel, calling the event an “unexpected incident.”
