Former British diplomat Ian Proud tells TRT World's Roundtable that China won’t "let Russia fail" and "the West succeed" arguing Beijing and Moscow remain bound by long-term strategic interests, following Vladimir Putin’s visit to Beijing.
Proud also says China is likely to buy more Russian oil and gas amid disruptions around the Strait of Hormuz, while cooperation in the Arctic continues to deepen. According to Ian Proud the partnership remains strong, making hopes that Beijing could pressure Moscow over Ukraine unrealistic.
