In this video, Chess Player 2150, released in 1989 for the Atari ST by Oxford Softworks.
Time to play chess with one of the most challenging game of chess of the era. Featuring both 2D and 3D boards, multiple difficulty levels, timed and untimed play and the ability to save and analyze games, Chess player 2150 was considered one of the best chess software due to its strong (for its era) engine, offering solid tactical play and an Elo-style rating system that evaluates the user’s performance. It also includes several alternative piece sets best viewed in 3D mode, for a more stylized look.
The graphics are clean and functional. The 2D board is sharp and easy to read, while the 3D perspective, though simple, adds variety without sacrificing clarity. The optional themed piece sets give the game a bit of personality, but overall the visuals prioritize usability over style. The sound is minimal and used sparingly, but it serves its purpose without becoming distracting.
Here you can find gameplay and menu with all the options available.

All footage taken from original hardware machines and upscaled to 1080P.
