If you can, use a phone that you currently have, and upgrade your audio with a Rode VideoMic Me. Otherwise, the camcorders are great for sit-down talking videos, and the compact cameras are really nice to take around. The Yi Action Camera is a great action camera but also serves as a great vlogging camera thanks to the wide angle lens built into the camera. The Sony W800 and Panasonic Lumix S3 both are 720p cameras, but provide great all-round features. The General Imaging E1410SW is a great 1080p camera but has a poor battery life and suffers in low light.
