Chatting about some crappy parts of 2017 and rambling about other things! Definitely not a video for everyone but one I really wanted to make.
This was really ramble-y and I just wanted to make sure nothing was misconstrued;
I didn't make this wanting sympathy at ALL. I'm aware I have a great life all things considered and the "problems" mentioned in this video are pretty mundane. There are a lot of people going through a lot more (and probably handling it better). But the things discussed still had a big impact on my year and mental health, and I wanted to talk about them in spite of that.
Also in case it wasn't clear, I LOVE seeing people I admire finding success and getting opportunities in fields they are passionate about. I want nothing but success for the people I follow. It's just easy for me to compare myself to them and come up short. Then I end up more focused on feeling bad about myself than happy for them. But I really hope it didn't come across like I was resentful or angry that other people were finding success.
My upset over 2017 wasn't down to one job opportunity either, as I said it was just the first thing I have been *really* excited about. When it didn't work out, reflecting on the 100s of things before it that hadn't worked out either (and the dozens that followed in that same year) were what really drove me down.
I'm feeling MUCH better now. January has been awesome. I'm going to try and focus more on the good things, and if I'm feeling down about myself and my accomplishments just focus more energy into being better.
