We were right - turns out it’s NOT illegal to clap
The teacher who got arrested for clapping at a city meeting relating to data centers just got their charges fully dropped by the county
Lux Claridge was detailed for 8 hours and charged with disorderly conduct and interfering with a law enforcement officer after defiantly making hand noises in support of a statement speaking out against a thousand acre data center project being planned for construction very close to their house
This would wind up making national news and force Emporia, Kansas into doing virtual-only public meetings until further notice
The group of attendees on the day of the arrest WAS especially defiant, and tensions were high - but Claridge had every right to be there, and showing your support against the big guy is now decidedly okay to do, at least for now
